WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE KRUGER MEMORY?

It could be a newborn impala frolicking next to its mother, the time your loved one slipped and fell in the mud on a walking trail, the sun setting over Engelhard Dam, lions mating two metres from your car and not another tourist in sight, a bird courting its mate, or the near miss with a charging elephant…..

Send us a photo of your favourite Kruger memory, and stand a chance of winning two nights for two at Wilderness Safaris’ Pafuri Camp in the far north of the Park. If you choose, your photo can be accompanied by a brief description (up to 50 words) of why the image you have captured represents your favourite memory of Kruger.

MORE ABOUT PAFURI CAMP

The lucky winners of the competition may soon have a new favourite memory of Kruger, after enjoying their stay at Pafuri Camp. This stunning tented camp is located in the riverine forest overlooking the Luvuvhu River, in an area of Kruger legendary for its prolific bird life, great game viewing (especially of some of the shy antelope species) spectacular trees and other vegetation. Pafuri Camp is run by the award-winning Wilderness Safaris, who are internationally renowned for their environmentally and socially responsible tourism practises.

The camp has 20 tents, including six family rooms. Each tent has its own balcony, ensuite bathroom facilities and an outdoor shower overlooking the river. A variety of activities are on offer at the camp, including game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives through the concession, birding walks, foot safaris, sleep outs, palaeo-anthropological activities and mountain biking with an armed guard.

The camp also offers a range of activities for children, and is one of WildernessSafaris’ ‘family-friendly’ camps. Pafuri Camp is located in the 24,000ha Makuleke Concession, which lies between the Limpopo and the Luvuvhu Rivers.

The Makuleke community were the first community to have land in a protected area in South Africa returned to them as a result of a successful land claim. Rather than resettlingthe land, the Makuleke people decided to initiate ecotourism ventures, and signed anagreement with Wilderness Safaris in 2004.
