SANParks has a lot to celebrate this year, with three parks reaching important milestones in conservation. The only criteria for entry is that your submission refer to South Africa’s National Parks, and that you are not currently a Sanparks employee.

Entries must be received by 31 August 2006. The competition is divided into the following 5 categories: Poetry, prose, stories for children, children (ages 8-12) and teenagers (ages 13-17). Entries must not be longer than 5000 words in the adult categories and 2500 words in the children’s categories. Word counts must be adhered to.

Your entry must be original, in English, unpublished and not accepted by any other publisher or producer at the time of submission. Entries should be submitted via e-mail to diannet@sanparks.org with the subject line clearly stating: Writing Competition. Typed manuscripts must be double spaced and have the name and contact details of the entrant displayed in the top left hand corner—otherwise your entry is disqualified. Entries submitted by regular mail or fax will be accepted for the children’s categories and in cases where e-mail is not accessible. These entries must preferably be typed.

However, handwritten entries will be accepted in exceptional circumstances. Winners will be notified on October 01, 2006.
