White lion documentary to be screened in SA
South Africans with access to satellite television will get a chance to learn more about the story behind the original white lions that were seen in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in the 1970s when a new movie premieres on the Animal Planet channel on October 28, 2006.
The documentary features Chris McBride, author of ‘The White Lions of Timbavati’, and was first shown to audiences in the United Kingdom on October 6. Now being screened in southern Africa, filming of the movie was completed as recently as June this year, when McBride returned to South Africa with the film crew hoping to catch a glimpse of the new white lion cubs born in the Umbabat Private Nature Reserve.
In the film, McBride relives the past with Jack Mathebula, who gave him his first lessons in the tracking of white lions. The documentary is produced by David Adams with filming by Greg Nelson.
