Elephant Round Table line-up confirmed Along with the scientific round table discussions, minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk
has apparently received “hundreds of submissions” from stakeholders around the
world. Scott said that the department’s specialists were making good progress
with the drafting of norms and standards for elephant management and that the
contribution from the second round table would enhance the process.

Kobus Wentzel Regional Ranger Far North Kruger Park Departs I met Kobus Wentzel in May 2006. I had just left Babala Picnic spot where the attendant Elvis was being terrorised by a Bull Elephant having promised to alert Shingwedzi staff to his dilemma. Some way down the tar road I
saw a person cycling like mad coming towards me and I noticed he had a rifle around his shoulder. I waved him down and explained the situation.

Park Field Ranger Open Day at Nxanatseni John Turner, representative for the Honorary Rangers’ support group, counter
poaching and the West Rand Honorary Rangers, took the opportunity to present the
Kruger ranger corps with a Bantam B22J Ultralight Aircraft. This will be used
for border patrols, anti poaching, carcass location, waterpoint monitoring, and
the monitoring of rare species, to name a few of its future tasks.
